Primary Members & Family Members Explained
Primary Member
- Each Client profile is connected to a Primary Member
- The Primary Member is the owner of the CoachFirst account
- This allows the Primary Member to login to CoachFirst, book services, add a credit card, and other critical functions related to the account
Family Members
- Family Members can be added to a Client Profile
- This allows the Primary Member to book services for a Family Member
- Examples:
- A parent (Primary Member) books a a camp for their child (Family Member)
- A husband (Primary Member) books a yoga class for themself and their spouse (Family Member)
- Family Members do not have their own login credentials for CoachFirst, and therefore cannot book services, pay with or add card information, etc.
Does Using Family Members Make Sense?
There are times when adding a Family Member may not make sense for how you manage your clients and how they use CoachFirst.
These are common scenarios in which it may be better to have the member sing up as a Primary Member, instead of being created as a Family member attached to another account:
- If the new member will be logging into CoachFirst and booking services for themselves
- If you (or the client) doesn't want to share packages or memberships credits (see below for more information)
- If the new member would like to receive emails for booking confirmations, service reminders, cancellations, etc.
- If the new member would like to use the Client App
It often makes sense to have separate Primary Member accounts in situations like:
- Spouses that like to manage their own accounts
- Teenage or adult children that are responsible for managing their own bookings
Please note that to create a CoachFirst account as a Primary Member, the user must be at least 13 years old.

Packages & Memberships with Family Members
Packages and Family Members
- Any package purchased by a client can be used to book the Primary Member and Family Members
- As an example, if a Primary Member purchases a package of 10 classes, they can use that package to book themself and a Family Member for the same class, after which they would have 8 credits remaining
Memberships & Family Members
- Memberships work the same way, and credits can be used to book for the Primary Member and Family Members
- Please keep this in mind, in particular when a client is on an unlimited membership
